Mooring Specialists
Since 2014, Mud City Dive Service has served Maine as a comprehensive diving service for Sebago Lake and lake region area. We specialize in installing, servicing, and inspecting moorings, and can take care of all of your mooring needs, as well as recovery and salvage efforts. We’re fully insured and ready to solve whatever you throw at us.
What We Do
-
System Installation
Anchorage, chains, mooring balls, swivels, and pennant lines — we’ll assess your boat and location, and install a system designed to fit your needs.
-
Mooring Hook-Ups & Removals
Changes in seasons call for adjustments in moorings. We’ll handle removing mooring balls in the winter and reinstalling them in the spring while ensuring the moorings stay accessible and easy to maintain.
-
Recovery & Salvage Operations
When vehicles and equipment become stranded, disabled, sunken, or lost, we can recover it. Whether it’s an bowrider or an ATV, we’re up to the task.
-
Lost Item Retrieval
Wallet, phone, keys? When valuable items go overboard and panic sets in, give us a call.
-
System Inspections
We’ll hop in our wetsuits and evaluate the chain, shackles, & more to make sure that your system is properly anchored and sturdy enough to handle whatever the lake region holds!
-
Anchorage
The most important part of your system requires specialized attention that we can provide with our go-to cast-iron mushrooms and concrete blocks adjusted for the weight of your boat.
-
Chain Replacement
Wear-and-tear from regular use and the elements weakens chains to the point of failure – over time, Mother Nature wins. Let us take care of the routine and necessary replacements. Replacing a chain is a whole lot cheaper than replacing a boat!
-
Whatever you need
A lot can happen on the lakes, and we can help with services outside of what’s on this list, like waterline inspections, valve replacements, or waterfront evaluations. Just give us a call.

System Installation
Here is a system ready to be splashed. This system has a 150lb mushroom and 1-230lb block. Once it is on the bottom we will “suit up” and dive to adjust how it sets. The mushroom needs to lay down and be “dug in”.
No sun, no problem
The winter months bring a new set of challenges. On this beautiful winter day, we hauled a ATV out of the frozen lake.
Hook-ups
Spring time is mooring ball hook-up time. We collect our clients’ mooring balls from their winter storage places and hook them up for the summertime boating season. Come winter, we’ll remove them and place them back in their storage.
Crane-Assisted Recovery
Often times we need to recover systems and/or move them. We have “lift bags” that fill with air to help lift and move anchorage but on board we have a crane to help with the heavy lifting.
Chain Replacement
We found the chain on the left during a routine dive inspection. A chain like this might look perfectly fine at the top, but closer to the bottom – where it rubs on rock and sand – it deteriorates into what you see here. This client was very happy to have it found and replaced before his boat was on the rocks.
Anchorage
Mushrooms and blocks are used as the anchorage for your system. The location of your mooring and the size/weight of your boat will dictate the size of the mushroom and how many blocks are needed.
